Reign Yu was trained as a healer from as early as he could remember, traveling around and helping others with his learned skills and abilities. Having sided with the fey during the fey versus human war some centuries ago, he had ended up gaining a great deal of respect by his fey comrades as he helped where he could. Including fleeing with his comrades at their princess's insistence, taking her egg to the capitol as they did. The war ends with the death of the Briar Nation's Princess Maleanor and the loss of a large portion of their lands; Reign does what he can to help those he had come to care for. Particularly an old friend and leader who is greatly affected. By the loss of their princess, being separated from her egg, and by the ban from the council. It's one day when he's gathering herbs for potions that Reign winds up stumbling into danger. A gift left to him is activated as a result. This results in Reign being whisked away to safety, which comes some centuries later at Night Raven College. With those he never thought he'd see again. Gaining a new role in the staff at Night Raven College as their newest Head Nurse and Potions assistant, Reign has quite a lot on his plate. Getting used to this new era, getting to know his now fellow staff, caring for his new kitten familiar, restoring the building he's been gifted by his old companion, and dealing with an overprotective and slightly paranoid new family. And finding himself involved with the troubles, rivalries, and drama of the students that results in a dreadful thing known as overblot in their students. Something Reign has some knowledge in, having been taught by his master of it. The year ahead is set to be a hectic one with potential for friendship, allies, and family as they go.

This was Yuma's small existence. One that changes when he wakes up at an arcane academy known as Night Raven College. A place for up-and-coming young mages. Which Yuma, who possessed not a drop of magic, couldn't be. And yet, under unusual circumstances, the Dark Mirror confirms that he is in fact a student for this school. Even if not as a regular student. Though Grim, who eventually manages to track him down, seems to think this place is better than the home ever was. Out of worry that he'd be returned if his unstable health is discovered, Grim and Yuma decide to keep it as secret as possible. Though for how long they'll succeed is unknown. So, with his protective familiar by his side, Yuma and Grim begin to navigate their wide new world full of different people. Personalities. Ambitions. Knowledge. Histories. And experiences they never had before. They learn more about their world that was such a mystery to them. But not all of it is good.
