Amara Dlamini and Zinhle Mokoena grow up together in a rural African village and dream of escaping poverty. Though they call each other sisters, Zinhle secretly envies Amara's warmth, beauty, intelligence, and natural ability to be loved, while Amara trusts their bond completely. She believes it is unbreakable, but Zinhle hides deep jealousy over many years. When Amara moves to Johannesburg she builds a successful life with her husband Kabelo, gaining stability, love, and hope for the future. When new evidence surfaces and hidden secrets threaten to expose the truth Amara returns to Johannesburg no longer weak or trusting but far more dangerous.
