This “Death and Delight” collection for The Atty’s 2012 is an extract from my other two compilations published simultaneously on Wattpad, under the titles “Decades of Death” and “Decades of Delight”. To provide the right context for this Atty’s selection of 10 poems one should view the full introductions covering each of the two compilations. In short however, "Decades of Death" is about the awful horror, brutality and cruelty which mankind has created in this world we live in - our only home for now. “Decades of Delight” is however about love and beauty and parades how life should be. Both compliations are works in progress (In real life and in my poems) and I will continually be adding to them (hopefully with your encouragement). This Atty’s 2012 competition is my “maiden voyage ” into the world of poetry publishing – although I have played around with poetry and songwriting for years. A young Prince Kyran of planet Arkanna is intrigued by a story that he overheard about a lost species known as Man, hidden deep within the fabric of the cosmos. Legend says, that Man is a sacred species that was enslaved by a Dark force in order to harvest its hidden power. However, in the cosmos known to Prince Kyran, the story of Man is most likely a myth, and simply a good bedtime story. On the other hand, Prince Kyran believes in the so called sacred species, and sets out on a voyage to seek the ultimate truth!

One day, I woke up with three words in my mind written on paper in my minds eye 'In the beginning...' for three days these words and this vision kept bothering me. It was the third day and I decided to write these words in my journal as I suspected it may have been something that wanted to come through. As I wrote the first three words, the rest came flooding through. This is an alternative poetic description of how the universe came to be. Many have heard the Bible or the Torah version of the beginning, this however is what many would call a new and fresh mini version of Genesis.
