On the Lifesteal SMP, death was never the end. It was a transaction. Ari learned that lesson the first time she watched a heart shatter in her hands. The sound wasn't loud-just a sharp, crystalline crack, like ice splitting under pressure. Red light bled through her fingers, warm and alive, before dissolving into nothing. Somewhere behind her, a player screamed as their maximum hearts dropped by one. She didn't turn around. Remorse was a luxury people with too many hearts could afford. The night air was cold, heavy with fog that clung to the trees and swallowed sound. Ari stood alone at the edge of the forest, iron axe dripping with pixelated blood, her health bar dangerously low. Two and a half hearts left. Any less and she'd be desperate. Desperation got you killed. The server was quiet-but never safe. Somewhere out there were alliances forming, betrayals brewing, and players who smiled while calculating how many hearts you were worth. Ari wiped her weapon clean on the grass and vanished into the trees. She didn't know it yet, but several pairs of eyes were already on her. And one of them belonged to Mapicc.
