How Maria gained a little alien brother

After escaping a miserable life as a lab experiment, an embittered Shadow becomes a criminal. His life changes when he escapes police custody and Mobius for planet earth and meets a lonely, ill girl.

Shadow's life with Maria was great, amazing even. Maria felt like a sister to him, and although she was a bit older, Shadow still acted like her older brother. He loved her. She meant everything to him. (To clear things up: Yes, Shadow was created. Likely around eleven when he was 'born,' and continued to age up from then. Maria is a bit older when she 'leaves.')

Knuckles the Echidna refuses to believe in anything he cannot prove, but when he asks the Master Emerald to prove the existance of God, he gets more than he bargained for. And Commander Shadow desperately tries to find a deciever before it is too late..

Maria tells Shadow allllll the wonderful tales of earth, as they both aspire to visit one day and enjoy all life down below. Shadow adores her to the core, as he's eventually left with nothing left of his precious friend. Just an old, 50 year old copy of a photo.
