She feels like she needs a place to but the thing is she can't find a place to hide from her problems but on the other hand she wants to feel alive and fight the fears that she has of not being able to control what she wants and needs. She feels like she can't go to any of the boys for any advice about guys because they are boys and besides they would tell them because the boys are family and best friends. But when she becomes a runner and sees what it's like outside of the glades, she starts to wonder about everything she's doing in the glades and starts looking for a way out with the help of a new Greenie Thomas but she fears the if she gets stung, she would remember all the bad things she's been through and want to hurt the ones she cares for. Most nights she cries until she falls asleep because of her fears that she can't seem to get away from. It feels like her heart is made of glass that can be shattered easily because it has happened before and her mind? It's like it's made of stone like she can't think for herself or anyone anymore the only thing she thinks about is what her life was like before the glade and even then there's nothing there for her to remember. Most days it feels like her life is being torn to pieces from her skin and bones. She feels like the hell that she is living in is her home now. But when she meets Thomas she realizes that maybe it's not her home and he is. It's like she knows him and he is the love of her life but because she can't remember she fights to remember and when she does, she gives in to the love and stops fighting against the way she feels because if she didn't then would hurt for the rest of her life and she doesn't want herself or Thomas to hurt.
