When Mal crumbles under the pressure of being royally perfect, she returns to the Isle of the Lost, where she can be herself. What happens when her return causes old feelings to resurface, especially after Carlos came to the Isle with her friends to bring her back to Auradon? Has she really moved on from him? This is the third Marlos Book I've written. Mal and Carlos are now the King and Queen of The Isle of the Lost. The barrier is taken down and Auradon is scared. Meanwhile of the Isle, Mal and Carlos have been very busy to make the Isle a better place. They have found peace with their parents and Uma and her crew. They will need it because there is a new threat coming towards them, and it is nothing like we've ever seen before... After undergoing a transformation Mal starts to feel unsure she wants to live in Auradon when she confronts her friends no one but Carlos understands. Throughout their childhood Mal has only seen Carlos as the spunky kid who was afraid of dogs. But she starts to see him more than a friend and is convinces Ben likes her when she is not being herself. She dyes her hair back purple and starts to become herself and Ben doesn't like this. Carlos having his own feelings for Mal since they were little starts to embrace these feelings. But Mal stills like Ben but starts to develop feelings Carlos along the way.

Slow burn; Mal has grown up since she left the Isle and is now attending Auradon prep with her friends-Carlos, Evie and Jay-and is now learning how to change her wicked ways. She's chose good over evil, defeated Maleficent and is now going to be queen of Auradon. When she realizes there is a lot out there besides Auradon and the Isle, she is torn between her heart and her mind-doing what's best for her or doing what's best for Auradon-but a couple questions will remain; will she end up losing herself on this journey? Will Mal be able to protect Auradon and the Isle or will she have to choose between them? Will she stay true to herself or lose everything? Can Mal defeat the darkness for good or will it take hold of her forever?
