Confusednovel
"You always look like you're about to run," he said casually, his voice low, meant only for me.
I blinked, confused. "Maybe I am," I whispered without thinking.
He chuckled, amused by my response. "You've got guts, I'll give you that."
But then he turned to the others and said, "Let them be. Come on, Cadric, Archie-we've got better things to do." With that, he walked off, taking his mysterious aura with him.
And just like that, the moment passed. But it stuck with me.
That night, after getting home, I couldn't stop thinking about it. About him. About the way his eyes had lingered. About that moment in the hallway.
I didn't know it back then, but that was the start of everything.
The start of something complicated.
The start of something that would turn my life upside down.
And now-now I'm here. Holding a pregnancy stick. Married to him.
A boy who once called me an angel.
A boy who now doesn't even look me in the eye.
