I Have A Dream Poem.... and the one that does his speech...

Being an African American, slavery rings a cord with me. I can't fathom what my ancestors went through. Even the segregation people felt 50 years ago is mind boggling to me. I can't recall the film, but I watched a movie where the slaves were singing, "follow the drinking gourd." I felt a wave of emotion and quickly began to write a story about it. This is the end result.

I wrote this at the beginning of 7th grade. I hope you like this poem

Loriel is just a normal white 13 year old girl.....well not quite. The year is 1961 in Birmingham Alabama. Not a good place for black people to be, especially since your sister is black.......

I experimented with a horrific scene and used a mundane description.

1963. A year full of misery for the oppressed and segregated blacks. This poem is about the strength and endurance of an average black/man/woman/child. It celebrates our journey and reminds of our past The current situation in the world has exposed how hard it is for black people in general. Human rights are meant for EVERYONE. This poem is just to remind us of what we went through as people and what we have achieved as people.

This is a poem I wrote in high school about the great Martin Luther King Jr, I was one of the winners who got to read this in a spoken word competition, their might be a video somewhere of me reading this on a stage.

The innocence of a child's oblivious mind is bliss.

She was only 17, but yet her young mind had had to endure more than she thought capable. Her life had not been one of ease and it was not about to become one of ease in this age either. After she one day has a troubling encounter with her family she goes to seek recluse on top of a hill, when having spent the entire day there she returns home through the city only to experience a horrible turn of events that are hundreds of people's reality each day. "If we wash our hands of the conflict between the powerful and the powerless we side with the powerful - we don't remain neutral." "We refuse to believe that the banks of justice are bankrupt. We refuse to believe that there are insufficient funds in the great vaults of opportunity in this nation." - MLK

This is my autobiography written entirely out of Haikus. I am a biological child of foster parents; we are a foster group home. This is the story of my life and everything that I believe in as an unaverage girl in an unaverage family.
