However, themes such as kidnapping and violence involving blood are heavily involved but I trust the reader to know their triggers. Historical and mythological material has been adapted for the purposes of the story, so this is fiction first and a history lesson second. 15-year-old Valentina Rose lives in the dark world of the underground. While the move from London to New York was tough, she fit in. Easily, really-socialising wasn't the hard part. School was easy too. Valentina had a way of making people like her without trying too hard. Within weeks, she knew who was who, where everyone stood, and exactly where she wanted to be. She could sit with the popular crowd one day and somehow end up talking to someone completely different the next. She never really belonged to one group. She didn't need to. Valentina was good at fitting in wherever she went. Good at knowing what people wanted from her. Good at giving them exactly that. And once the school day was over, most people went home. Valentina preferred to wait for the city to wake up. There was something about New York at night that felt different. The streets were louder, the buildings seemed taller, and there was always something happening somewhere. It was the only time she felt completely awake. So, as the sun disappeared behind the skyline, Valentina's day was only just beginning. And whatever happened after that was nobody else's business. - This story is heavily based on dissociation. The use of third person shows she doesn't feel like she's in her own body yet her internal dialogue is constant. I didn't want to write her as a usual character where she's a good person and immediately falls in love. Throughout the story, the reader and the character learn more and more about her. I had this idea of a story for a long time and so i finally decided to write it out and hopefully you all enjoy it. This story follows Y/N Benjamin Parker, a fifteen-year-old genius whose life changes forever after being bitten by a radioactive spider during an ESU field trip, giving him incredible spider-like abilities. While testing his powers one night, a mysterious meteorite crashes nearby. But Y/N's new life quickly takes a tragic turn when he returns home to find police surrounding his house. His Uncle Ben has been killed during a failed robbery. Overcome with guilt and anger, Y/N tracks down the culprit and nearly takes revenge, until he remembers Uncle Ben's words about responsibility.
