Twenty-two and directionless, Y/N returns to Medford for the summer with no real plan beyond staying with her aunt, finding a job, and eventually figuring out what comes next.
Then she meets Mary Cooper.
Mary is older, recently widowed, deeply Christian, and seemingly certain of everything Y/N isn't. What begins as a handful of ordinary encounters slowly becomes a friendship neither of them expected, then something much harder to name.
For Y/N, wanting Mary is complicated.
For Mary, wanting Y/N feels like a sin.
And the summer was always supposed to end.
