Cora Crawley had an older brother Joseph Marcus Levison the eldest son of Isidore and Martha Levinson. He had married Lady Florence daughter of Lord Herbert Henry Asquith the first and had a beautiful daughter Catherine. After the devasting sinking of the titanic occurred, Catherine was left alone, the sinking claiming both of her parents lives. Cora adopts her orphaned niece who has lived with her many times before due her parents frequent travels she had mostly been raised at the abbey spending more time there than anyplace else in the world. This is her story following the devastation of her parents deaths and how she eventually finds love with certain blue eyed Mr Crawley. Lady Anne Crawley is an up and coming society girl of England post Edwardian Upper Class. This is something that she has been looking forward to but also dredging for many years now. Her Aunt Rosamund Painswick, whom she has lived with since she was 14 after the tragic death of her parents, tells her that her sister-in-law the Countess of Grantham has asked to her come and say at Downton Abbey since she is of age. This means leaving gloomy London and breathing the fresh Yorkshire air. What will come of this adventure? Will she follow tradition and marry for convenience or marry for love? We never saw what went on in Mary's head. Julian fellowes never showed us her reaction after Matthews death or informed us on how she felt. This is a piece of writing describing her life leading up to his death and reactions after death.
