Max didn't know why she did it, but for some reason when El majestically dumped Mike's ass, she invited Will Byers to hangout with her and El. It was weird, especially because Max and Will barely even interacted with each other with other people around, much less in a private hangout. But, maybe that's why Max wanted to invite him over as Mike and her stupid, dorky boyfriend dropped their jaws like they were in a cartoon. Maybe it was the fact that Will was just standing there, stone faced and blank. Like an outsider, just like she was, except ten times worse with being seen as a helpless victim and Zombie Boy and much, much more disgusting names. A paradoxical tragedy stuck in a never ending cycle of hurt. And somehow, that triggered Max even more. Or maybe Max just felt like it, but nevertheless; Max told Will that he could hang out with her and El at Hopper's Cabin if he wanted to, much to the chagrin of the other boys. So, that's why when Max was laying flat in her stomach doing each other's nails and complaining about boys, the phone rang.
