Her feet are in the ocean and her eyes are on him.

"You really don't have to stay, you know."

"Relax." She whispered in his ear, her hands tender on his neck as she rubbed small circles on his muscles. She was closer to him than she was supposed to be, closer than he felt comfortable with. And while he wasn't stupid enough to not have seen it coming, he was stubborn enough to hold onto the hope that it wouldn't.

She's weightless when he looks at her.

It's not okay, nothing is okay and it's his fault.

There's a loneliness to being the center of attention but he sees her. He sees all of her.

He should make her burn but he doesn't. He makes her float.

There was always someone new, anyone who wasn't him, always someone more suitable for what she imagined for herself.
