He is a strong fighter and trusty scout in the Second Massachusetts. The group have taken shelter in an abandoned hospital until they figure out where to go next. Hal and Maggie had found Karen nearby and she has been a worry to the group. When Ben and Karen suddenly disappear and later appear with threats and Skitter forces, Ben is put under pressure to serve for the Skitters in the area. He is soon left with the daring choice of leaving the Skitters or staying and doing their filthy bidding.
