Celia Jones can talk to the dead, but getting on with them is a different story. She always has at least three spirits following her around, complaining about their relatives, or the inadequacy of their funeral arrangements. The latest is a murdered actress, Maude Domby, but she's less interested in denouncing her killer than in accusing the understudy of stealing her favourite pearls. When the charming but utterly fraudulent medium Stanley Winter holds a séance to contact Maude, Maude insists she and Celia should attend, to see people mourning her 'properly'. But the séance ends up implicating an innocent woman, and now Stanley Winter is banging on Celia's door, begging her to help him find Maude's real killer. Unfortunately, helping Stanley Winter could lead Celia to confront her other power - the one that's both lighter and infinitely darker than talking to the dead. ONC Prompt: 72. A real necromancer sits in on a fake séance.

My name is Micah D'Amour and I could see and talk to dead people... Call it a sixth sense if you will but Haley Joel Osment didn't star in my reality. I couldn't remember a time where I didn't have "the gift." More like a curse that I had no control over. At least I wasn't the only one, the only medium yeah, but the gifted existed. We lived side by side with who the psychics referred to as "the CFs", otherwise known as the normal human beings who were born without abilities. People have come a long way in the past 60 or so years in accepting those with the gift but there were still people out there who refused to accept us. I was a 29 year old gay bestselling author who used my experiences with the afterlife to help me write my novels. At least they were good for something. Now a murder victim was seeking me out to help catch her killer and here enters the cliché Boston Irish detective that walked straight out of one my mystery novels. Only this time, it wasn't fiction.

Kaitlyn had been 'dead' for quite some time now. No one actually knew that, and that's how it should stay. But the truth won't stay hidden. Especially when there's a little boy running around, one that can see what's amiss. Shapeshifters were eradicated centuries ago, so why does Elise exist.? And why is she posing as the princess.? ♤♤♠︎♤♤ "You called for me mother.?" the princess spoke, taking a seat opposite the older woman. Three more people were in the room, she noticed a young boy, a man who she assumes is the boy's father, and an older gentleman, a butler maybe.? "Kaitlyn sweetie, have some tea." she poured the girl some tea, "You remember Dylan, your nephew and his father, Dennis.?" The girl sipped her tea and hummed, eyeing them she asked, "Where's Kyla.?" nobody answered, avoiding her eyes. "I see, I'll leave you and mother to speak then. Dylan, would you like to accompany me to the garden.?" 'Kaitlyn' spoke, getting up and walking towards the sun room door. Dylan cheered before rushing out of the room ahead of her. They exited to the garden and the young boy's eyes lit up as he skipped off. 'Kaitlyn' let out a chuckle before following after the bouncing brunette child. She took a seat on a nearby bench and watched him run around, after a while he sat next to her. "I know you're not my aunt." the little boy said absentmindedly, staring into space. 'Kaitlyn's' eyes widened slightly, but went back to normal quickly. She inhaled slowly, "What makes you say that.?" she smiled, feigning ignorance. He looked her directly in the face, where he assumed her eyes to be and responded apprehensively, "You don't have a face."
