*This is an AU of the 1944 movie Meet Me in St. Louis so I'll just briefly explain the changes.* • the movie takes place in 1903-1904 but for my story it will take place during WW1 because I wanted to reimagine this story as if it were a war romance between Esther and John. • Many minor things here will not be historically accurate but its sole purpose is just for my story, especially with the story being set in the years of WW1, but don't worry, I will give a disclaimer of them after every chapter. • Although this story will be an AU, I will include some moments from the movie to help carry my story. ~~~ Christmas time has arrived in St. Louis and the Smith Family are excited, especially Esther. For she is now already halfway through junior year, and next year, she'll finally be a senior. Then after that, university. When that day comes, she'll finally be an adult. However, throughout this journey to adulthood, she never expected she would fall in love. Especially with the boy next door. One afternoon, Esther spies a handsome new neighbor in St. Louis who goes by the name of John Truett, a native of Brooklyn who just moved to St. Louis, and to Esther's surprise, will be transferring to her school in the spring. As the feelings of these 2 people bloom from learning more about each other with each passing day, their relationship is tested with the interference of war, family traditions, and strict parents. Can love truly conquer all?

When Seth disappears from her life, Eloise married Elmer Parker. They lived happily together until Elmer suddenly died. Now Eloise lives alone with her memories. Then, the doorbell rings again.
