A tired cruise passenger named Raven is pulled from the grip of a violent storm by Kristoff, a hybrid creature born of both siren and merfolk blood. After being cast out by his ocean kin for choosing to save a human, Kristoff makes a desperate bargain: he trades his magical singing voice to a sea wizard in exchange for the chance to live a human life on land. He eventually finds his biological father, Jonathan, who guides him through the strange realities of gravity, fashion, and social etiquette, all while uncovering a dark history of family sabotage. Kristoff manages to land a job at the same company as Raven, but he has to carefully mask his superhuman strength and mysterious past from her and his skeptical boss, Mr. Alvarez. Even though she is still reeling from her near-death experience, Raven finds herself inexplicably drawn to the "new" Christopher, never realizing he is the mythical protector hidden within her fractured memories.
