A spinster doctor rents her spare room to a brain-damaged patient who doesn't know he is a former undercover agent targeted for execution by a powerful criminal. ~o~ ~o~ ~o~ John Doe remembers nothing of his life before waking up in the hospital. He doesn't know he was a dangerous man, and he somehow has survived assassination by even more dangerous men. He doesn't even know how to speak English, or read, or count. Even after his body heals, he will need long-term supervision and care to re-learn how to live. Dr. Mitchell Oberon has been married to her surgical work for too long. So, she resists being attracted to a brain-damaged patient with the body of Adonis and the mind of a child. Agent Frank Stone, of Homeland Security, forces the doctor to take John Doe into her own home while he recovers. Stone, who knows John Doe's past history well, says it's not safe to send him back to the place he lived before he was "killed" by his enemies. If it ever becomes known that John survives, his foes will make sure he doesn't live long. Mitchell tries to protect her heart while she protects the innocent John from a hostile world. As they live together, the two begin to teach one another how to live. Hopefully, they'll also learn how not to die -- because they'll soon be betrayed into the hands of murderers.

W zapomnianym miasteczku, na zaniedbanej stacji kolejowej, trzej chłopcy spędzają swoje dni w milczeniu, poszukując czegoś, co mogłoby odmienić ich życie. Otoczeni przez szarość, ból i beznadzieję, ich codzienność pełna jest bezowocnych poszukiwań, które jednak nie gaszą ich nadziei na lepsze jutro. Chłopcy, ubrani w zniszczone ubrania, przeszukują okolice, licząc na to, że coś, co zostawili pasażerowie pociągów, da im szansę na zmianę. Ich życie to pasmo trudów, w którym każda chwila wydaje się być zmarnowana, ale mimo to nie przestają szukać. Ostatecznie stacja i ich życie stają się miejscem pełnym cieni i milczenia, a zakończenie historii pozostaje niejednoznaczne, pozostawiając pytanie, czy uda im się kiedykolwiek uciec od tej szarej rzeczywistości.

A bit of Foreword here: My dear reader, today you are holding a book of poetry in your hands. I ventured to write this book a long time ago and as you see, I successfully made it happen to be ready. I withdrew most of my feelings from my soul decidedly, wrote them on blank pieces of paper and gathered all those into this book hoping that It will serve you and in general our society, and therefore become a beneficial treasure of you, reader's life (as it became mine already). Opowiadanie skupia się na wewnętrznej podróży Leona, młodego chłopaka, który przypadkowo odnajduje medalion skrywający tajemniczą energię. Przedmiot ten wciąga go w świat z pogranicza rzeczywistości i nadprzyrodzoności, zmuszając do konfrontacji z własnymi lękami, pragnieniami i przeszłością. Z biegiem czasu Leon odkrywa, że medalion nie jest odpowiedzią na pytania, które go dręczą, lecz raczej katalizatorem, który pozwala mu spojrzeć na swoje życie z nowej perspektywy.

Palavras podem ser incrivelmente proféticas, como mensagens, avisos ou uma simples conversa que precisávamos ter conosco mesmos. Um sentimento preso que é finalmente posto para fora. Muitas vezes não sei o que quero dizer... nem se eu quero dizer algo. Às vezes é só uma coisa inútil que está ali e que, com o tempo, eu vou achando uma utilidade. Talvez seja uma mistura de êxtase com alguma "disphoria"; uma dor sobreposta na minha "euphoria". Apenas um compilado de exaltação nessa dor, com nada a acrescentar. Apenas algo inútil. Me diferindo da minha "euphoria".
