As soon as the arena exploded, I knew our plan had worked. All I needed to do now was find Katniss, Beetee, Finnick or Johanna. I saw a figure in the distance. "Johanna!" I called out to her. A hovercraft circled ahead. Haymitch and district 13 had seen us. We were going to live. "RUN!" Screamed Johanna. Confused I looked up. It wasn't district 13's. It was the Capitol's. Something stung the side of my head and I felt dizzy. I looked back and Johanna was on the ground, being picked up by the machine. We weren't going to make it, but in my heart I knew Katniss was going to be ok.

My name is Katie Primrose Mellark. I am thirteen years old. I have Poppa's blue eyes and blonde hair (grown to my waist) and Mama helps me braid it. I am reaped into the new Hunger Games, which are back, somehow. Mama told me that when I start to have a breakdown (which she says are hereditary from Poppa and her) to make a list of things I know as true. But, now Im not entirely sure.

This is a sonnet I wrote for English class about a year ago. It is from the perspective of Katniss written to Peeta.

Day 2 of Hayffie Week: The Kids It was supposed to be a meeting of families for Katniss and Peeta. But when they heard gruff cursing and high-pitched shrieks from where Peeta's mother went, they discovered new things about their family that they never knew before.

When people see me walking down the street, they call me names. Whore, Slut, you name it. It's not my fault I was thrown out at eighteen by my mother and the only person kind enough to take me in was Cashmere Brooks, the owner of the ever popular Trackerjacker Gentlemen's Club. Being a dancer wasn't my first plan. But the money made waitressing just isn't worth the constant fondling from the patrons. So I was forced to dance. I will admit that the money is good. But what good is money when you're dead inside. But then I just remind myself that it's not me on that stage, but a person I don't even know. On that stage I'm no longer Katniss Everdeen, the scared eighteen year old who just last month didn't have enough money to feed myself. On that stage I'm an unknown face. On that stage, they call me Fancy.
