Amethyst is a normal teenager. She lives with her mom and dad and her foster brother and she goes to public high school. The only thing she wants for her birthday is the newest iPhone. Her life is pretty much normal, except that her parents are 500 year old vampires, and her foster brother is a werewolf, and there are ghosts haunting the mansion they live in, and they rent out rooms to wayward vampires. But other than that, Amethyst's life is pretty much normal.

Shyenne Rhineheart is a sixteen-year-old girl who lives by herself, as her parents are in perpetual states of traveling. Because of this, she is very lonely and very desperate to not seem lonely. Shyenne works at a fast food joint, where she meets Alyssa: a twenty-one-year-old woman who is struggling to keep a place to live in due to insufficient funds and not enough hours. They both have their own demons to face. They both tend to shoulder their pain and push away help. That is, until Shyenne's depression follows her to work and things take a turn. . . But not necessarily for the worst.
