Kacey Jensen has never been popular. She's quiet, and doesn't have a large group of friends. She's usually picked on for getting good grades. But since sixth grade, she's been crushing on the most popular boy in school, Nick Merico. Nobody knows about this crush, except for her best friend, Jillian. That is until the popular girl, Sara finds out, and threatens to tell the entire school if Kacey even goes near Nick. Kacey can do this easily, and does, until Nick asks her to dance at the Winter Formal.

It's summer and for most girls that means spending time at the beach, but for Riley it means getting ready for the Moon & Stars' Talent Show. This talent show is all the way in L. A. and she will be spending two weeks at a family friend's house which is across the street from another star on the rise? What happens when these two meet?
