Just a normal everyday merstuck davekat fic. Karkat moves to a new town and finds out dave is a merman. (haha funny name)

All's well and good when you're the prince of Alternia and everything goes your way. But when your own captain of the guard turns his back on you in favour of a known rebel leader, well. Someone's got to do something about that, and that someone might as well be you. In honour of Mermay, I present to you my first ever proper AU as well as my first real attempt at writing a polyam ship. I hope I did a good job.

The prince of the sea discovers humans really exist. Despite all he's been warned of, Dirk breaks the rules to learn more about the new kid on the island. In doing so, he's bound to uncover parts of his own past he doesn't remember. Jakes new, persistent, curious, an definitely naive. However, he's also alone, until the day he finds a merman.
