Most humans didn't go into the water. When it wasn't full of sharks, it was full of merpeople. They were nothing like those in kids' books. They killed and ate any human stupid enough to get close to them. They were hated and feared by humans. They wanted it to stay that way. But what happens when a human saves a merman's life by risking her own?

You always wanted to visit the surface where the humans live but since you were little you still couldn't so instead you listened to stories other mermaids and merman that when to visit. Now you are old enough to visit the surface, once out you find a boy crying but upon closer inspection he seems different, are all humans like this? you think as you comfort him and from that day you both become close. I don't own the cover art! This is mostly based off merstuck, but more violent. So basically vampire mermaid trolls. They're both around sixteen, though the age could be anything, honestly.

dave and dirk get kicked out of there home in Texas. so they go to live in england with some cousins. they didn't go by air but by ship and while at sea a bad storm sank the ship and the two boys get rescued by .....a merman?!
