(Flash Fiction- Contest Entry: Mertastic Contest No.1 hosted by @talesofthedeep) Scoundrel Evan Laine has encountered an uncharted Island in the Pacific. His exploration turns up a beautiful creature seeking refuge in a cavern set deep into a mountain on the island. He quickly learns this creature isn't taking too kindly to the harsh elements of winter and he's determined to return this marooned mermaid to the deep.

Wicker Manor is cursed. Ray Wingate, the house's new owner, would much rather deal with his furniture trying to kill him than the sudden appearance of a pond in his back yard. When snow begins to fall on the Surface, it is time to leave the Gulf. But before the people who live under the sea pack their belongings and haul it to the warmest place they can find this side of the Atlantic, a small celebration is thrown for those who wish to stay and brave the cold.
