Mesopotamian Stories

So I wrote this as a project for my mythology class, specifically to make fun of archaeologists saying everything they find has a meaning. I wrote this in an attempt to emulate a 13-year-old finding the story of Gilgamesh and decided it seemed like a love story so....this was born. (Prof. Tracy I promise this isn't plagiarism)

How do you save your family from the secret they are sworn to protect? After a creepy stranger comes to their family's apartment in the middle of the night to deliver an ultimatum--turn over what belongs to him or die-- fourteen-year-old Miranda McAdelind and her eleven-year-old brother Justin are sent away to the protective safety of their estranged grandfather's ranch in rural Colorado. However, the ranch does not turn out to be the safe haven that their parents believe it to be. Not only do mysterious, near fatal, accidents keep happening but someone is stealing priceless objects from the ranch, objects that if discovered would expose a wondrous secret their family is sworn to protect: that dragons are real. Can Miranda and Justin find out who is responsible for the thefts before the council of Dragon Lords seizes control of their family's ranch, or will they be the next victims of whoever, or whatever, is working to destroy them?

The Vyoman Cycle Story 1 This is a 'Mesopotamian Science Fiction' Series. The genre is that of 'Sword and Plant.' Across an expanse of 12 galaxies Bit Zoovool had ruled with terror a mercantile empire for thousands of years. This is an oppressive oligarchy that bows to vicious gods. In the first story, the capital planet of Skoos is conquered in a day by an expansive cosmic tyrant. But more than mere expansion, the god he worships is fighting his own war against the other gods to be the one and god worshiped by humans. Here we meet Nane, the youngest prince who never counted but on whom the whole weight of resistance to these cosmic coups would fall.

Long ago, in ancient Mesopotamia, four jewels were guarded by four clans within a secretive sect collectively calling themselves the Ishamah--jewels of Earth, Water, Sky, and Wind. When joined as one upon an ancient altar within a hidden temple these elemental jewels are rumored to endow great mystical power and possibly even immortality itself upon the one who unites them; unleashing the true essence of their collective power through a magical tablet known as the tablet of destiny--which can bestow godlike power to the one who unites all four jewels, and utters the ancient spell written thereon to usher in a new Sar or age. But the sages of old who harnessed this great power deemed it too volatile to be wielded by one person for fear that it would fall into the hands of a corrupted madman. This is why the jewels were kept hidden and secret, their unpredictable power guarded and kept separated by the four clans of the Ishamah for thousands of years--each jewel kept hidden by each clan. Within one of the clans, a young man named Kish-rin is coming of age. As a 20-year-old young man he is expected to tackle the responsibility of becoming a chief guardian over the Mu jewel, the jewel of Water and Life, which his clan guards. Meanwhile, it is discovered that there may be a traitor among them. It is up to the Ishamah to unite in order to unmask this traitor and their mad plot before it's too late. It's mystery meets fantasy in this epic adventure!!!
