Later they found out that it is actually a meteor who contains Dark Matter. At contact with the atmosphere, the Metaforce relieves the Dark Matter energy into the air, giving humans abilities beyond their understanding. The subjects are being named "Meta-humans" and therefore called dangerous to society, requiring their complete extinction. Stay tuned for more.

During the particle accelerator explosion, Mothra's egg was sitting out there in the water when the particles got absorbed into the egg by the developing larva and when they were absorbed into the larva's body, larva Mothra began to turn into a meta. Team Flash ⚡ found her and took her egg to Star Labs, where Dr. Harrison Wells continuely observed the egg. When the egg hatched and Mothra came out, he fell in love with her and promised that he was going to protect her and take care of her.
