Yet whenever scammers appeared, trying to trick newbies with fake trades or "secret spots," Shabby Pedestrian was already nearby, wobbling into their plans and exposing their lies with a few sarcastic messages in chat.​ One evening, when everyone rushed out to an event, a lonely low‑level shaman stayed in town. Shabby Pedestrian passed by, bottle in hand. She asked why he never left the city. He stopped for a moment, then wrote: "Out there they chase levels. In here someone has to watch the beginners." Then he took another sip and kept walking his endless route, the drunken guardian of the village streets-shabby, slow, and always there for anyone who started the game with nothing but a wooden weapon and a bit of hope.
