Between growing up with a gullible Mexican mother who continuously looked for the good in someone that wasn't there, and a corrupted African-American father, Yelena never had much of a childhood. When tragedy strikes, and Yelena's mother is killed by their abusive father, and their father is imprisoned for murder, Yelena finds herself having to take care of her 16 year old brother, Marcus, who can't seem to stay out of trouble, and her 14 year old sister, Maniella, who's just as naive as their mother once was.
But when Marcus and Mani find themselves in a sink or swim situation, and turn to Yelena for help, will she tough it out, and continue to be their source of security? Or will the burden of being 25 and taking care of two teens in LA finally be too much to handle?
