Every summer solstice on June 20th, a small village deep in the mountains of Virginia celebrates the day with games and dancing, and a large feast the end day. With the conclusion of the feast, two people are chosen to be honored with a ceremonious walk through the forest, a walk that will end with their lives being given to the greatest honor to their village, the spirit of the forest, Aethe.
Elenor, who had been born in the village and had lived there her entire life, had always dreamed of being chosen as a sacrifice to Aethe, for it was seen as the greatest accomplishment one could get in their life. An unfortunate accident leads to Elenor meeting three teens around her age, one a boy that seemed too familiar for comfort. As the summer solstice grows closer, Elenor begins to regain memories she had suppressed, memories that could shatter everything she believed.
Will Elenor continue to remember the memories, or will she pretend as if everything is fine and remain oblivious to what really happens during the walk?
This is my first attempt at a story and is, honestly, a Midsommar inspired story. :p
