Midwife Stories

poem my first poem in English language

Ellie is a petite young woman with soft brown hair that falls just below her shoulders, usually pinned neatly underneath her nurse's cap while she is working. She has hazel eyes, a warm smile and a youthful face that sometimes makes patients underestimate her. She dresses exactly as a young midwife of the period would-uniform dresses, sensible shoes, stockings and her nursing cape when she is out on her rounds. She carries herself neatly and professionally, although when she is nervous she has a habit of fiddling with the strap of her midwife's bag.

Schwarzwald, 1633. Frisch verwandelte Wölfe greifen Reisende an. Denn ihr Wolf will Gabriel.

"Whispers of Dawn from Gaza" is a personal memoir by poet and midwife Wafa Hashem, taking the reader deep into life in Gaza over thirty years of memories, childhood, academic excellence, and humanitarian work at the Baptist Hospital. Between the warmth of family, the sands of Beit Lahia, and the journey through births and challenging surgeries, it presents a rich experience of humanity, generosity, love, and dedication to work. This memoir is not just a recounting of events; it is a window into the soul of Gaza, into the breaths of dawn, and into the whispers of a heart that tells stories of courage, resilience, and compassion. The war between Noncredenti and Deimitopulus has been going on for longer than anyone can remember. It began when the Noncredentis crucified Jesus Christ, the prophet of the Deimitopuluses. Every third child in Noncredenti is now taken to become a soldier. They are never given names, only numbers. Can a boy, #642, who has only been taught the war and to defeat the enemy, become friends with them? Can two soldiers change an entire war?

After being forced to go out after a long shift at work, Sara manages to drag herself to the club and get herself into trouble with a guy there. When another man comes to her rescue, and she falls for him, will everything be as 'fairytale' as it seems?
