So basically this happens during episode 6 of Mermaid Melody Pure right after she jumps into the ocean crying because Kaito gave his pendant to Mikaru. Lucia can't take the pain of Kaito forgetting her and giving his pendant to Mikaru and she jumps into the ocean. She stays there for awhile before deciding that she wants to go back home to the North Pacific Ocean. She goes back to Pearl Piari to tell Hippo and everyone she's going home and yeah let's go from there.

Mikaru is literally living under the rock. Only surrounded by books and her brother, she's not accustomed to the outside world. The culprit is her weak body. She seldom ventured outside of her home because she's afraid. Afraid. Kaito is Mikaru's first infatuation. He's a friend to her. But Kaito already likes another girl. He can't reciprocate Mikaru's feelings no matter how sorry he felt for her. Kaito will always see her as a little sister. Mikaru realized that she must move on and tread forward. She wants to start her life anew. Weave her story as she see fit. She wants to live. To live a life she is satisfied with. She must face her weakness to explore the world.
