As the weather heats up and school comes to an end for summer vacation, Zach Dempsey and Alex Standall decide they are going to make sure that this summer will be different than the last-they're going to make the most of it before the start of their senior year. Between late-nights at Alex's house, long drives in Zach's car, adventures around town, road-trips, friendships, and honest conversations, two boys find that life has a way of drawing two people together in the best way, at the best time, exactly when they need it. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- WARNINGS: This story will reference many of the tough topics talked about in 13 Reasons Why. This is including (but not limited to) Alex's suicide attempt, the trial against Bryce Walker, sexual assault, bullying, cursing/language, and much of the current conflict surrounding Tyler Down. alex standall is the new kid and it was weird enough that he wouldn't tell anyone why he transferred schools. dani was the only one willing to let him join her group probably because she was the only one who hadn't heard any of the rumors considering she didn't even bother with them in the first place. alex standall is struggling to leave his past behind but when the rumors aren't just lies anymore he's left to face his past and relive some memories. this book will include justin and probably some other characters eventually. it will definitely be referencing them though. note: so this book is about a character from 13 reasons why so it's pretty safe to assume that this book will talk about some pretty heavy topics and it may include spoilers if you want to even call them that. also, the book has au in the title for a reason, this is my story therefore some things will be changed from the book and the show for the sake of the story, nothing major but i don't want any issues over minor details. also you can call it a miles heizer fic if you want, but i'm personally writing the character and seeing the character as alex.

There were no thirteen reasons why Alex Standall shot himself, no tapes and no note. Everyone who knew about the tapes had good reason to believe that they were the reason he did it but no one could be sure, and so far no one besides the teachers at Liberty High and his family knew. The headmaster knew the students had to find out, it was important to give them the message as soon as possible, so he made an emergency gathering in the school's gym. Justin Foley was unbelievably anxious as the students in their year were gathered and sat down in the gym, an uneasy feeling in the pit of his stomach. All of the teachers had something sad and relatively off about them and even though he knew things hadn't been great over the past few weeks, this seemed worse. It felt like the same atmosphere as when they addressed Hannah Baker's suicide. - This is based after the end of episode thirteen, it's what I want to happen with Justin and Alex because I love them together so much!
