Every summer, I returned to the same place... and to the same people I once called home.
The Sicilian summer house was supposed to be my escape - golden sunsets, endless sea breeze, and the family that once felt like one. But nothing feels the same anymore.
Not since my mother died.
After her death, I stopped being the girl I used to be. I stopped believing in love, in fate, in anything that promised forever. I learned that everything beautiful eventually disappears... and people always leave.
So I stayed away.
Until my father forced me to return.
Now I'm going back to Sicily after one year of silence - back to Ethan's family, back to Steph, back to Ian... and back to a version of myself I buried long ago.
But some things don't stay buried.
Old friendships shift. Familiar faces feel unfamiliar. And the house that once felt like home now feels like a place full of ghosts - of memories, of laughter, of everything I lost.
And then there's him.
The summer I left behind is waiting for me... and so is everything I tried to forget.
Because some summers don't heal you.
They break you all over again.
