Fresh out of culinary school, all Veta Beaucheman wants to do is open her own little bakery, but with student loan debt and trying to get her first cookbook off the ground, she has to put that thought on the back burner. To add to her hectic schedule of having to edit recipes every day and a half, she finds work in the only place hiring, Vincenzo's Olive Tree, to hold her over until her cookbook hits the shelves. When her apartment catches fire after a little mishap with some experimental caramel recipes, she is put way behind schedule on her cookbook. In order to get back on track, she makes a deal with her boss. Veta can use the restaurant kitchen after hours as long as she locks up when she leaves. It finally seams like she is getting back on track with her cookbook when she is confronted with a little problem, making her fall farther behind. When her investors start to get antsy and threaten to drop funding for her book, she has to really step up her game, or she may never crawl out of her hole of student loan debts.
In walks Roman Lombardi. When Roman becomes the owner of Vincenzo's, he meets some challenges, one being the fiery and confident Veta. The minute he meets her he knows all he wants to do is help her. Deciding to introduce himself while she is making french macarons, he causes her to burn them, creating a vicious cycle. She tries to make macarons, he does something to make her ruin them. Though unintentional, his presence makes her mess up, and his "help" isn't so helpful.
He is so intrigued by the petite blonde that he can never get her out of his head. It doesn't help Veta that he is very attractive and charismatics. But when Veta practically falls off the face of the earth, Roman gets concerned. He can't reach her, she wont answer her door and no one has heard from her in days, when he gets a very vague email from Veta, telling him she was in London meeting with her cookbook investors.
