Louis Harrow had always understood the quiet power of perception. At Westbridge High, reputation was everything-an invisible currency traded in glances across hallways and whispered conversations behind locker doors. Louis had mastered it. Effortlessly charming, selectively kind, and always just distant enough, he moved through school with the ease of someone who knew exactly how much of himself to reveal. And then there was Katie Ellison. She existed on the edges of everything-the kind of girl people noticed only long enough to dismiss. Her presence drew snickers, her silence invited cruelty, and whatever set her apart made her an easy target. While others laughed or looked away, Louis did something more dangerous: he noticed. Not openly. Not in ways that mattered. He saw the way she braced before the first insult, the flicker of hope in her eyes when someone spoke to her, quickly extinguished. He recognized the quiet strength it took for her to return each day. But recognition is not action. Louis told himself staying uninvolved was safer. Getting close to Katie meant risking everything he had built. And Louis Harrow did not take risks. Still, there were moments. A door held open when no one was watching. A book returned before anyone noticed it missing. A glance that lingered too long. He cared. Just not enough. Because caring meant choosing. It meant standing beside someone the world had already decided was unworthy. And Louis wasn't ready for that. Not until silence felt heavier than fear. Not until distance began to feel like regret. By the time he realized reputation meant nothing, it was too late. Katie Ellison-the girl he had almost chosen-was already slipping beyond his reach.

I never really liked my parents, I mean why should I? They just dumped me in this boarding school when I was 12. They waited till I was 17 to get in contact with me, they don't love me and I don't love them. Then they think they can run my life, as if? They want me to marry a stranger, one who has something off about him. I can't quite put my finger on it, but I will. Believe me I will...

[A SEQUEL TO "I'm Obviously A Girl. But none of you idiots have to know that..."] Sam Stone's life was perfect in Chicago. All of her friends were there, along with her new boyfriend, Alex. Being stuck in Florida was like a wasteland, especially when her best friend, Kale McCann, leaves for Chicago too. It's been two months since she's seen any of her Chicago friends, and her parents refuse to allow her to go up there to visit. But then again, parental consent wasn't exactly part of Sam's philosophy. So when Alex shows up one night in her room, unannounced, only to say his plane’s leaving that night, Sam devises a plan to hop on board and jet off to Chicago. But when she gets there, and she sees how things have changed in her absence, she realizes that her plan might have had a few holes in it. Because then again, planning was never her forte.

Every day, we make countless choices-big and small-that quietly steer the direction of our lives. Behind each decision lies a road not taken, a set of options quietly set aside, shaping not only our paths but our happiness, satisfaction, and future opportunities. The Roads We Didn't Take: Everyday Choices, Hidden Costs is a collection of storytelling-driven chapters that explore the profound impact of the options we overlook. Drawing from everyday moments-skipped meetings, spontaneous adventures missed, extra hours at work, or the comfort of a well-chosen "no"-this book reveals that every decision has an invisible price tag. Through engaging, relatable narratives, you'll come to see that opportunity cost isn't just an economic concept, but a practical tool for understanding regret, relief, and personal growth. With each story, you'll discover how saying "yes" to one option invariably means saying "no" to another, and how this awareness can help you make more intentional, fulfilling choices. Whether you're seeking clarity in personal finance, career decisions, or simply in daily life, this book offers inspiration, comfort, and practical wisdom for navigating the subtle costs and hidden opportunities along your journey.
