The average victim of abduction and murder is an approximately 11-year-old girl who is described as a "low-risk" child leading a normal family life. In 80% of cases, the initial contact between the victim and killer is within 1/4 mile of the victim's residence. Unfortunately, I know this statistic all too well. My daughter was 12-years-old by one month, five days, 19 hours, and 45 minutes. May 15, 1999, Andi, was kidnapped from her father's rural Arkansas home. After a three-day statewide search, the abductor confessed to the FBI that he had taken her from the home, driven her ten miles away down an old logging road where he had raped and strangled her. He covered her body with a scrub brush and returned to assist with the search. After a failed polygraph he led authorities to her body. He currently resides on Arkansas' death row. Finally, I ran for state representative in Arkansas in 2014 and am serving my third term in the House of Representatives. I serve as vice-chair to the House Judiciary committee and fight daily for children and victims in Arkansas and the nation.
