In the heat of 1946 Calcutta, Sister Teresa is a beloved teacher behind the high stone walls of St. Mary's. But outside those walls, the city is a screaming. Following a divine prompting she calls " The call within a call, " Teresa trades her habit for a simple white sari with blue stripes and steps in the shadows f the poorest slums on Earth.
With no money, no medical supplies, and initially no helpers, she begins by washing the sores of the forgotten and teaching alphabet in the dirt. The Miracle of Compassion is no just a retelling of her life; it is an intimate look at who decided that "the unwanted" deserved a dignified death. As she builds the Missionaries of Charity, she must face political opposition, the depths of human suffering, and the "dark night" of her own soul.
