Two months after the gates tear Hawkins apart, nothing fits the way it used to. Will Byers finds quiet in the art room after school, in paint and locked doors and places that don't ask him to explain himself. Mike Wheeler is trying to hold the Party together with plans and debriefs and a desperation he won't admit to. Somewhere in between, something soft and fragile begins to fracture. A slow burn Byler fic about silence, jealousy, and the things we don't say until it's almost too late.

Faced with the cold of the Upside Down, Mike Wheeler can't stop thinking, wondering things he never felt he would wonder. The Byers family could not have moved back to Hawkins at a worse time. There was an outbreak of the "Hanahaki Disease," and anyone with an unrequited love was vulnerable to becoming infected with flowers growing inside their lungs. Will had heard about this and was fully anticipating the first flower, but instead, he hears his sister coughing in the bathroom.

Hi! It's Alec. This is my first fanfic!! English isn't my first language so if there are spelling mistakes or similar, I'm sorry!! This is a Byler fanfic (Will Byers + Mike Wheeler), it will focus on their story mainly, but of course, it follows the original Stranger Things plot. It happens in season three, when Mike confesses that "he loves Eleven and he can't lose her again".
