What happens when the one thing that made you feel invincible becomes the thing slowly breaking you apart?
Eijiro Kirishima has spent his entire life becoming someone people can depend on.
As Red Riot, he is the Hero of Protection-the one who stands between danger and the people he swore to save. His Hardening Quirk is supposed to make him stronger.
But something inside it has gone terribly wrong.
After a devastating malfunction leaves his body struggling to handle his own Quirk, Kirishima is faced with a terrifying possibility: he may lose his ability completely-or worse, lose control of it.
With his career hanging by a thread, he turns to the last person he ever expected to need.
Izuku Midoriya.
Deku isn't just Kirishima's longtime friend. He's a hero, a teacher, and a Quirk researcher who has spent years studying unusual Quirks and their malfunctions. Together, they begin a difficult journey of experiments, training, setbacks, and painful discoveries to bring Red Riot back to the hero he once was.
Only, somewhere along the way, Kirishima discovers that his Quirk isn't the only thing malfunctioning.
Because every training session makes his heart beat a little faster.
Every smile from Deku means a little more.
And every moment they spend together makes one terrifying truth harder to ignore:
Kirishima is falling in love with his close friend.
He knows he shouldn't.
Their lives are complicated. Their careers are demanding. And Kirishima's trust issues make opening his heart feel far more frightening than facing any villain ever could.
He came to Deku hoping to fix his Quirk.
He never expected Deku to become the person capable of breaking down every wall around his heart.
But when friendship begins turning into something neither of them can deny, Kirishima has to decide what's more terrifying:
losing the love of his life-or risking everything to tell him the truth.
