Rumors still swirl around in the tabloids about her 'relationship' with the singer/ songwriter, Robert Kelly or known as "R.Kelly". From what had been percieved in interviews, magazines, etc. , the two were ' best friends ' , but judging by their marriage certificate the pair had eloped else where. Involved in the act was the lie, that Aaliyah had told about her being legal.
