Jesse Locave was raised in the streets. His mother who worked for the Locati Clan was never home and Jesse never knew his father. But he made a promise to his mother that he would never join the mob and so far he has been sticking to his word. The petty crimes he commits along with his friend Niall are enough for them to get by considering Jesse has no one but himself to look after. Niall Mullany is Jesse's one true friend, the only person Jesse trusts. Their life of crimes and being raised in the streets has made them resilient but sometimes Niall wishes things were different. So he and Jesse dream about living in mansions and raising families like the rich people they frequently rob but their crime sprees keep them from earning enough, something Niall hopes is going to change when he gets his GED and starts looking for a job. Like Jesse his one crime rule is to never become part of the mob. When Jesse starts falling for Serena, a girl their age who was born in affluence and Niall is certain she will end up breaking Jesse's heart after she is over with her 'bad boy' crush. But Serena is Jesse's first love and that's something hard to give up. Niall's stance is questioned when he starts falling for Serena's friend Emily. The rich and gorgeous Emily who is in love with Ryder Alcott, the playboy who goes to the same private school Emily and Serena attend. What happens when Jesse ends up getting involved in an ongoing mob war because of a not-so-random mistake and with every move, starts to get deeper and deeper instead of rising back to the surface. Friendships will be tested. Love will be challenged. Will Jesse come out unscathed? Or will the circumstances take him away from everyone that he loves and everyone that loves him back? What happens when he becomes TOXIC?
