Hello! :) I decided it would be fun to submit a description of my personal evolution of my understanding of love and what it means to love someone. This was inspired by my choice to finally embrace my sexuality and the understanding that came with truly allowing myself to be who I am. Hope you enjoy!

Grandparents story

A young widow reminisces on memories of her late husband, during the evening of his birthday, as she struggles to come to terms with his absence. When her four year old son, Leo, interrupts her quiet moment by the lake, the woman discovers that the love she and her husband once shared continues through the legacy of their child. This story is written for the #ModernLoveContest.

I've always felt that I have put more into my friendships then I've gotten out of them. It hasn't stopped me from being a supportive and good friend, but has often left me with self doubt and mild depression as my negative thoughts tend to wonder. I slowly began to drift away from them after high school but for a few years we still got together, at which point I had time to reflect on many things. I started being more honest with myself, even if I wasn't quite ready for my friends to hear it yet. So I started righting things down in a little green journal as the past and present reflected each other. These are a few excerpts from that notebook highlighting both the disappointment but joys in my relationship in friendship and love, however secret or known they may be. Fun Fact: The cover of this book is the actual green journal I used to write my thoughts down in This is just a short story done through the style of letters for the #modernlovecontest and is a more subtle take on the relations I've had with some of my friends over the years. Like stated before these are only excerpts from certain writings, even though I don't use my real name here the names of my friends have been changed for privacy reasons except for the letter their name starts with. Likewise a few re wordings may have happened to help fit in the word count limit, so some past events I can not fully explain like I did in my actual notebook.

In our world today we throw around the word "love" quite aimlessly. We believe it to be an emotion, something that we feel on a whim for no rhyme or reason. I don't believe that's true. I believe love is a conscious choice of action. Because we love someone we put action behind our words. I don't believe anyone truly has a full understanding of love. I believe life will continuously push us to our limits in regard of how much love we give and learning new ways to express that love as we grow as individuals. I also believe that with the conscious choice of love, comes some not so voluntary emotions or sensations. In this book I am going to explore what those experiences meant to me and can hopefully provide some insight to others who might be feeling the same way but are having trouble identifying those feelings.

A young girl named Alice who loses her way both on her way home from a disastrous date, and mentally, does her best to get back on track. All of her experiences with love up until this point had gone wayward. She had a tendency of choosing the worst people. Due to these relationships going left, she thought it was something she did. That she was the problem. Of course, she was completely wrong. She would later learn not only how wrong she was about being the problem in these relationships, but to love the one person who's never turned their back on her. Herself.
