Now Nations must chose a side, forced to take up arms in a conflict on an unimaginable scale that makes the Second World war looks like childsplay. This is the first Arknights fan fiction I ever wrote, and the first time I ever drove into the fandom/lore of Arknights, so inaccuracies in some parts are to be expected. Y/n is a the last recruit left on base, becoming a part of the 141 team temporarily until they transfer out. It's been two years since and y/n has managed to make the base feel like home. Soap and Gaz have become the annoying big brothers they always wanted when they were younger. Price has unknowingly taken on a father role, constantly texting y/n "Have you eaten yet," or "Text me when you make it back to base, or I'll send one of the boys to check on you." She didn't mind though. Y/n has never had a place that felt like home before and this was the closest they've come to it, even if it's temporary, even if she's temporary. But there's one person that she can't seem to get along with. Constantly fighting him no matter what punishment he dishes out in retaliation. Maybe a sick part of her liked his punishments, or maybe she liked pushing him to his limits. A man, who time and time again gets her kicked off missions because "She's not ready" according to his standards. Y/n was tired of it and this would be the last time he gets her kicked off a mission, she'd make sure of it. Everything was going to change... and it did the moment she step foot into that ballroom prepared to flirt with the enemy, while wearing a dress Ghost wanted to rip off of her.

Although, she hadn't expected him when she moved in three years ago... She hadn't expected Simon because why would she expect some beefed-up military guy to be her new neighbor? She assumed military lived on base in barracks, but apparently not. Apparently, they also lived the mundane outer-city life, dragging the garbage out on Thursdays and carrying bags of shopping in on Sundays. Of her neighbors, Simon was the only one she'd become friendly with, and by friendly, it meant they developed a symbiotic relationship where they would watch out for each other... Although they weren't what would typically be considered friends, they had a certain trust in each other. Or rather, Dina trusted him. Simon felt a different way about the situation. Simon saw a thousand ways that Dina could get hurt.
