For hundreds of years, Japan was in a state of constant turmoil. But now, the country thrives under the rule of the Aoki family. Kimiko Aoki is a Japanese princess, and royal advisor to her brother Kaito Aoki, who is the current emperor of Japan. Their mother Ei serves as Kaito's assistant and mentor. Their family line has held the throne for over a century, but with Emperor Osamu's death and Kaito's recent disappearance, Kimiko and Ei are hidden behind a curtain of shame and fear. If the population finds out that Emperor Kaito is missing, they will panic and call him a coward. And cowards are a black stain on Japan's reputation, doomed to be treated as traitors. Yukio hears from a refugee that there are rumors of a young man of imperial blood being held by the Mongols. Clutching on to this shred of hope, Yukio quickly persuades Kimiko that they must take action. The pair hastily make the twenty-mile journey through enemy territory to rescue Kaito at Japan's borders, praying that it's not too late. If the emperor cannot be found before the Mongols reach Tokyo, Japan will be crushed by Kublai Khan's iron fist. Can Kimiko and Yukio stop the spiral of panic and rescue Japan before it's too late?

[This is a short story written for a school project years ago, so the writing may be bad. I decided to post the story here.] Nakano is an ordinary female samurai, who's been chosen, along with other samurai, to help the Chinese fight the Mongols. On the way, their little boat crashes upon some sharp rocks, forcing them to go with a strange man, Haruki. He is another samurai who brings them to China and helps fight. On the tiny boat with Haruki and other samurai, Nakano befriends Tomoe, another female samurai. Her presence is serene and tranquil to Nakano. One problem arises, however, as Tomoe can't help but feel like something is odd about Haruki, but she doesn't know what lies beneath that stern but sly face.

A historical love story of the 1212 Mongol invasion in northern China. All work depicted in this story is fictional; An actual occurrence that happened in history, but the plot is driven by fictional aspects. I was assigned to write a historical narrative in my English and History classes. I figured publishing the story to get it out there to those interested in the topic. I am aware there aren't many historical aspects in the story, and that I may not be 100 percent historically accurate. I focused more on the writing aspect.
