Going back to the previous examples, this is no problem for fossils, or time capsules, or cookbooks. But humans don't typically resurface from the ocean, alive and well after who knows how many years. Nor do they find themselves lying on the shore of another country and live to tell the tale. Okay, so the first time you tried shadow traveling was a bit of a disaster. No, scratch that, it was a huge disaster. Somehow, you overdid it and ended up in... New York? And met some weird turtle demons who had trouble figuring out whether you were a mutant or a human.
