Being the son of the moth man should have more upsides then down sides. Montgomery was very close to just leaving this world of "monsters". The idea of being banished was a bit tempting. Overbearing is what he would call his father. And it was probably just going to get worse because his dad was one of the board members of monster university and someone was able to enroll him there.
