Miles consistently lies to Jeff and his mother, Reo, blaming the bruises on his own clumsiness, sports mishaps, or minor "roughhousing" at Brooklyn Visions Academy. Jeff's mind spirals into the worst-case scenarios a father-and a cop-can imagine. He fears Miles is being bullied, getting caught up in a gang, or following in the footsteps of his late Uncle Aaron's criminal past. The silence from Miles feels like a betrayal of the trust they once had. Rio notices the way Miles avoids eye contact and the physical toll his "normal" life is taking, but her attempts to reach him are met with the same wall of lies. The Hidden Truth: Neither parent knows that Miles is actually Spider-Man. Lemme introduce myself. My name is miles Morales, and I am the one and only spider man. Well, I've actually met five other spider people, but they were all from different dimensions and you don't need to know about them. Well, I beat some villains once, twice, and a couple hundred other times, seriously New York has a real crime problem. I saved everyone, but I couldn't save my uncle. Which is why I'm currently swinging across the city at about 50 miles per hour, probably breaking a ton of air traffic rules. ~~~~~~~~~ Miles Morales is your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man. And, he's been doing pretty well at it, if he says himself. Balancing school and his superhero duties has finally started to become a breeze, what with his exams over, and he's completely happy. But, every once in a while, he finds himself wishing he could see the other spider people, just one more time. That is, until Jamie Jackson shows up at The Visions Academy. Smart and witty, she immediately catches Miles' eye, and by a stroke of luck and a twist of fate, they end up getting to know each other for real. Two months later, they're best friends, and almost inseparable. Miles is thinking of telling Jamie about his other identity, when he starts getting cryptic messages from an unknown entity. He has no idea who they are, or where they came from, but he's determined to track them down before their foretold reign of terror begins. But he can't do it alone, and that's where Jamie comes in.
