Princess Cassandra of Troy was cursed by the god Apollo for turning down his advances. In an effort to protect the women in her fathers employ from soldiers with similar intentions, she alters their dreams into nightmares. But once the King of Dreams finds out, they form an unlikely friendship. (This is loosely based on the Greek myths of Cassandra of Troy, but will eventually bring the characters into the modern era)

Each Endless has a companion. These companions were created by their mother and father as a way for them to truly find a being that they could share their eternity with. To allow for some form of love to blossom and grow such as the love between night and time. Each companion holds a mark of claim on their being to show which Endless holds their soul. Each mark is uniquely different. Hob Gadling was one of these companions. He isn't Dreams.
