After her parents' sudden divorce, Brooklyn is forced to move to a different town with her mom, away from her friends and all that she's known. Not only was the move unexpected, but she had to leave behind her dearest companion, Nari, a little mixed breed dog. She's determined to somehow reunite with her dog, but first she has to adjust to her new life, which proves to be more difficult than she imagined. Being the new girl was hard. Brook comes across a family trying to rehome a German shepherd puppy and immediately offers to help find him a home. One problem. The puppy is terrified of everything and everyone, which will make it all the more difficult to find him a home. He was a mess, shattered beyond repair and scattered about. She was lost, some pieces missing and never to be found. What do you do with the leftover pieces? You make a mosaic, of course, and create something beautiful.

"When I was six years old I broke my then foster aunt's mosaic. I don't remember what it looked like, but I do remember trying to glue it back together. No matter how many combinations I tried I could never get the pattern the exact same. Years later I can look back and see how that mosaic began somewhat of a metaphor for my life." Naomi was invisible. Alec felt his dreams slipping farther way each second.Kristen is lonely and regretful. All of a sudden things begin to go Naomi's ways, and she finds herself in a world of music, friends , and love that she never knew existed. Then something comes to threaten this hapiness, something only naomi has a chance at stopping, but at what cost?

For as long as this mosaic stands, I lie immobile. I never should have come down here because now, now I’m cursed to stare up into this nothingness forever. I can’t move, I can’t blink, I can’t breathe. An invisible force keeps me still; no matter how my eyes burn, I cannot shut them. Like the scream frozen in my throat, my lungs burn for the breath I will never breathe again. How long have I been here? I don’t know. I don’t know. I’m not dead; I’m not alive. Broken does not mean worthless. Some of the smallest and most insignificant broken pieces, when loved and handled with care, become beautiful works of art. Samone, an abused child, salvages the broken pieces of herself and puts them back together to become the mosaic.

December 6   MOSAIC     I couldn’t prevent this plate from shattering, so I saved all the pieces, losing none.  I laid them edge-to-edge and made a design, secured it with thin-set.  Pieces of pattern framed with grout are seen, as they never could be when this dish was whole.  I am part of this construction more than just handing china onto the table.  Integrity has been lost but replaced with fractured openness.  The plate has lost personal unity to become an ingrained part of my personal archeology.     Fly your kite in the wind. *     The Way West     The sun reflected in the windows winks at me as I fly over. The plane climbs higher and the reflected light no longer reaches me.   I slip from my eastern bonds. I am west coast bound.
